The purpose of the Adventurous Journey is to encourage a spirit of adventure and discovery whilst undertaking a journey in a group. The journey should be undertaken in a small team in an unfamiliar environment requiring determination, physical effort, perseverance and cooperation to complete. If hiking, candidates will be required to navigate their way through trails, carry all their own equipment, set up camp and plan and provide their own food.

Each group of students will set a goal or purpose for their adventurous journey, they will have to develop this together and ensure that it is a SMART goal or purpose in order to ensure it is meaningful.  Students will have an assessor who will have to write a comprehensive report on their performance during the adventurous journey.  In addition to this, students will have to write a self-reflection on their journey.
